Cathy is home now.

Yesterday (Sunday) after church a friend of ours Cathy Foster went for a ride on her horse. Cathy is a very experienced rider, but some how the horse got spooked and reared up. Cathy fell from the horse, then the horse fell on her. Cathy has three crushed veribrate, and 6 fractured ribs (three on each side), her lungs while not punctured where squeezed "like wringing out a sponge" so air went outside of them causing breathing difficulty. But she has feeling in all extremities. As of tonight she is in Intensive Care at St Joesph Medical Center, and scheduled for back surgery tomorrow at 9:30 AM.
Cathy's in good spirits, and is thankful to God for it not being worse.
Please pass on to our prayer chain. Bob Short

God is AWESOME!
The surgery was longer than expected almost four hours, but she had one of the top back surgeons. He is confident she will make a full recovery, with the exception of a little loss of "range of motion."
I was in my new hire orientation yesterday at the hospital and took some time at lunch to go up and sit/pray with the family in the surgery waiting room. I think her husband Jim was appreciative of the male company.
Julie and I went back to visit last night after work, but she was just getting out of recovery. Jim and the girls had "camped out" all day, so Julie and I sat and watched all their stuff while they went up to see her. We eventually got a brief visit, and she is an amazing woman. Her attitude is positive, her faith is strong.
She is praising God for an event that clearly could have ended worse but was so dramatically protected. She had just bought a new riding helmet, and her riding companion reminded her to put it on. She landed in a fairly soft area and flat so some of the weight of the horse was distributed elsewhere. The spine stayed in-line the whole time.
Continue to hold Cathy, Jim, Angie and Jenni in your prayers as she is expecting six weeks of recovery.
