Kay - PT's Mom

Good evening family,

Just a quick update of a new development from Anacortes. We will send out updates tomorrow with any further news.

Monday night Sarah and I noticed that Kay was limping and mentioned a discomfort on her right foot. We investigated and the foot and ankle were swollen and it looked like Cellulites, which we'd seen before. Becky had a pretty bad case.

Sarah took Mom to the Dr. on Tuesday and it was confirmed. He prescribed antibiotics and then it was all about rest and recuperation and observation.

Today, Wednesday on my way out of the house I went into her room to say goodbye and she was half sitting on the bed slumped sideways and was very unresponsive to my words of concern. I feared a stroke, but she responded enough to key stroke detection questions and gestures and that didn't seem to be happening. Sarah came down to keep an eye on her just in case. She checked in with the Doc a little later and they suggested taking her to the hospital to have her checked out as Cellulites can advance and spread and become more serious, especially in the elderly. Off to the ER they went in the hands of the big burly Paramedics. Kay loves that...no matter how sick she is! The Paramedics, not the ER!

More details to follow, but the short of it is that they decided to admit her for treatment and observation. She is a very sick camper right now and she is where she needs to be! She is mostly asleep as her body is trying to fight this infection. We will check on her in the morning and send out an update. Sarah and I are going to get some rest tonight and I'm sure there will be some phone contact tomorrow. I would say that everything is stable at this time. Keep Kay, Grandma, Mom in your prayers (us too) and we'll be in touch soon!

Love to all! Tim and Sarah
